AusPost Wants To Get Textual
Say goodbye to Australia Post's iconic ‘sorry we missed you’ cards, as they move to solely digital updates via text message and AusPost app notifications, to keep you in the loop with your parcel deliveries and collections.
Why is this change happening
In an effort to limit confusion between collection cards and AusPost app information, this new process will allow you to see the most accurate updates for when an attempted delivery has occurred, the details of where to collect your item, and when the item is available for collection ensuring your parcel is ready for you when you arrive.
This new process also means a reduction in paper usage, which helps aid Australia Post's commitment to sustainability as Australia’s largest courier company.
What this means for you
When expecting a delivery remember to not wait for a collection card, always check your text messages and download the AusPost app for real time updates and collection details.
This app is a super user friendly tool that helps organise all your parcel deliveries in one place.
Remember when sending your delivery directly to a friend (lucky them!) be sure to provide their mobile number in the shipping details section at checkout, or forward on any text messages from AusPost regarding this delivery directly to them so they can collect within the 10 day window.
Haven't purchased yet? Take a look at our handy gift guide for the perfect present. Shop bands for her, bands for him, crystal bracelets or our gorgeous range of pastel apple watch bands. And just in case you need a different size or colour, we have a generous 30 day change of mind return policy so you or the gift recipient can exchange or refund with piece of mind!
Is this the end of surprise gifts?
Almost but not quite. You can still provide your own email/phone for the shipping information but you'll need to remember to forward those auspost texts to your loved one or they may never know they had a surprise parcel from you just waiting at the post office.
If this doesn't appeal to you then you can always opt for one of our crowd favourites and grab a digital gift card. Like all gifting purchases, gift cards are emailed to the details provided for "shipping" so if you want to keep it hush hush then provide your own email and you can print/present to the lucky person when the time is right.
Our hot take
We think this new update is awesome! We love saving paper, and to be honest, who can be bothered going to the letterbox anyway? Read our statement on sustainability to learn more about how businesses like ours can do better for the environment.
